Meet Tamale Mirundi’s Son and Daughter Doing Wonders At Makerere University

When Tamale Mirundi brags that he is intelligent, he really means it. And this can be reflected in the kind of children that he has given birth to. Tamale’s eldest son is a lawyer, his eldest daughter is an Agronomist and they both graduated with first class degrees. But away from these, Tamale Mirundi also happens to have two other intelligent kids at Makerere University.

One of those is his daughter, Maria Namuli (now in Second Year), the other is Joseph Gilbert Tamale (in his fourth year). It is the son who is doing the most wonders. In Primary Seven, this son graduated with 4 aggregates. He then joined St. Joseph SSS Nagalama where he emerged the best student at Senior 4 with 8 in 8 aggregates. He didn’t stop there, he joined St. Mary’s College Kisubi where once again he topped with 25 points.

It is these 25 points in PCB/M that assured him of a place at Makerere University where he’s doing Medicine. Now in his fourth year, Joseph Tamale is one of the few students that is still in the race for a first class degree in medicine. “This son of Tamale Mirundi has always awed us. But beyond being intelligent, he is also very humble and very friendly. When you have a problem, Joseph will be one of the first people to help out.”

Then there is Maria Namuli. She’s continuously surprised her course mates by her intelligence. “She never buys handouts, she only attends lectures but she’s always excelling. We even never see her in the library. It seems she has this special way of grasping material right away from the lecturer,” a course mate narrates.

Despite being arrogant, Tamale Mirundi has actually demonstrated that he has this sheer ability of being the best parent. “He never pampers his kids. And he is lucky to have gotten two wives that are very strict on the children. All his children have been raised as perfect Baganda children. You can’t believe the girls are told it’s a must to kneel down when greeting their elders. One day, Maria knelt down to greet her aunt in front of the Ivory Tower at Makerere, I was shocked,” a close family friend confesses.

We guess, Tamale Mirundi has the bragging rights as a parent. Doesn’t he?
