Speeding Car Mows Down UMCAT Students, Killing One

On Thursday 29th June 2017 at around 9:25pm, a Speeding car No Plate UAU 623N lost Control and knocked the school Gate Entering the school Premises at Mbale Coordinating Center where the Media and Cultural Gala was transpiring Causing Several Damage, Injuring two Students.

Christine Nalumasi a Diploma Student Pursuing Journalism and Mass Communication and Ronald Katumba a first year student of Journalism and Mass Communication.  The victims were Immediately Rushed to Mt Elgon Hospital where Christine died at 11:15 Pm.

The Surviving Victim (Ronald Katumba) is currently admitted to Mt Elgon Hospital in Mbale under stable but delicate Condition and recovering steadily according to medical report.
UMCAT is fully in touch with the family and monitoring his Condition. We regret to this Unfortunate incident and commiserate with the family and entire UMCAT community especially for the loss.

Preliminary Investigations indicate that the Driver was under the influence of alcohol. The matter is under Police for comprehensive investigation into this unusual occurrence.
