This August 2015, many freshers will be traversing the streets of Makerere Kikoni looking for that awesome room to break your virginity, sorry, reside in for three or so years at Makerere University Kampala. Well, being the good guys that we are, we have actually listed for you the top 10 hostels around Kikoni that you’ll love.

1. Pintos Hostel
Pintos Hostel is a ladies only hostel at the Heart of Kikoni. The hostel is located between tycoon Ivan Ssemwanga’s incomplete anonymous hostel and Muhika Hostel. Known for party loving girls, the hostel offers some of the best services around Kikoni. Their DSTV is functional; they have a reading room which is always empty and a small restaurant for you to grab a bite. Better still, this hostel is just next to the dusty drive through Kikoni making it easy for you to make your way from the Taxi Park to your room effortlessly. Double rooms range from 550,000shs to 600,000shs a semester.

2. Kare Hostel
Kare, formerly Masaku hostel is located in the lower part of Kikoni just next to UCF church. The Hostel has both single rooms and Double rooms. Security at the main entrance is tight and has a small reading room. The best part about this hostel is that you can easily move to a mini supermarket and restaurant located just next to the hostel. It has a shuttle to transport students to Campus and a generator for when Umeme does ‘bad manners’.
Double Rooms go for Shs. 650,000 While Single rooms are at least Shs. 900,000 a semester.

3. Nallika Hostel
If you love being young wild and Free, this is the hostel for you. You can literary party all your Campus life at this hostel and no one will ask a question. Nallika also has a big reading room, a private restaurant and DSTV. If you have your own TV you can catch live football matches in your room if you speak well to the custodian called Max. Porridge nights, dance parties, liquor parties are common at this hostel. Oh, there is also fellowship in the reading room area every Wednesday. Double rooms range from Shs.600,000 onwards.

4. Dream World Hostel
Very calm organized and smart, Dream World is a hostel for those who know what they want at Campus. No one will push you to do anything here. Visitors are not allowed inside rooms past 11pm (or so the note at the gate says). You can eat whatever you want from the great menu at their restaurant. We are told that you can also get food and pay later if you speak well to Nnalongo the proprietor of the restaurant. The Hostel has a fully-fledged clinic, functionless wireless connection and bathrooms in the rooms. Double rooms go for … while single ones are…

5. Kann Hostel
Located along the road to Kasubi from Sir Apollo Kagwa, Kann is a hostel for those who want to stay near the Library at Campus, probably watch the cars move while in your room and hook up any chic who is using the Kasubi road. The hostel has great food at the restaurant, free DSTV and working showers.

6. Baskon Hostel
Baskon is located along Sir Apollo Kagwa road and just next to the Western Gate of Makerere University. If you love living like you are in a congested Newyork apartment, this is the place for you.

7. Akwata Empola Hostel.
This is the only hostel with only single rooms in Kikoni. Free DSTV, a restaurant, canteen and friendly manager. Their rooms go for 800,000shs a semester. Check them out.

8. Douglas Villa Hostel
Bigger than a cathedral, Villa is one of the hostels that Campusers love when they come to Makerere. Although it is a little further from Campus than most hostels, Villa is a good place to spend your campus time.

9. Olympia Hostel
The biggest and best Hostel in Kikoni is a dream come true for Rich campusers. From ample parking space, to a swimming pool, decent restaurant and affordable rooms, Olympia is a hostel you want to go to when you come to Makerere. Rates Range from Shs.900,000 for doubles.

10. Nana Hostel
Nana needs no introductions from housing rich kids to having some of the best facilities around Kikoni it is one of the best hostels to live at. Rates range from Shs.750,000 Check it out.
